While the launches of the iPhone 16 and Apple Watch Series 10 may have attracted the most attention following Apple’s September unveiling, the AirPods 4 earbuds shouldn’t be ignored. They are major upgrades over the previous model and are available in two versions; one with ANC support and one without. Both models feature a new, more open design, USB-C charging and Apple’s H2 chip with Bluetooth 5.3 support – the same chip found in the AirPods Pro 2.
In his full review of the AirPods 4, CNET’s David Carnoy says that with both AirPods 4 models, “the sound is a little cleaner (improved treble), and you get a little more bass, so there’s a little more depth and fullness.” He also said the high-end AirPods 4 are the first open earbuds he’s tried that have “active noise cancellation that really works.”

When were the new AirPods 4 launched?
The new AirPods 4 launched on Friday September 20th. Both models of the AirPods 4 are now available in Apple stores and other retailers have started selling them as well.

What are the prices of the two new AirPods 4?
There are two versions of Apple’s fourth-generation AirPods, each with a different price. Here’s what US pricing looks like for the new buds:
- AirPods 4: $129
- AirPods 4 with ANC: $179

You can now order both the AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC in the Apple Store. You can also get a free engraving when you order your AirPods 4 from the Apple Store. And Apple is also giving customers three months of Apple Music with their purchase.
Apple probably won’t offer a discount on the AirPods 4, but you can pay in installments if that suits your budget and get 3% cashback when you pay with your Apple Card*.
Best Buy is offering three months of Apple Fitness Plus for new subscribers and up to three months of free Apple Music for new and returning subscribers with your order of the Apple AirPods 4. Note that you must cancel before the promotion ends to get a free ongoing avoid subscription.
Additionally, if you have a similar device that you’re looking to part with, you can reap trade-in savings. Apple, Beats, Bose, Sony and many other brands are included, so it’s worth checking if you’re ready to upgrade.
