The latest AirPods Pro are among the best noise-canceling earbuds on the market and are a top choice for Apple users.

This model includes USB-C and a MagSafe charging case, though they’re nearly identical to the excellent AirPods Pro 2, which ship with a Lightning case—except for one key feature. Folks who purchase a Vision Pro headset will get lossless audio when they plug these buds in. That’s arguably an edge case, but it’s still worth knowing about, especially if Apple adds the feature to future iPhones and other hardware.

Apple’s first full-size headphones are packed with high-end features like noise cancellation, spatial audio, and easy integration with Apple devices. Sure, paying roughly the same as a PS5 might sound like a lot, but here’s the thing: they’re actually worth it, as long as you don’t feel cheated by their lack of support for full lossless audio. Just keep in mind that prices vary depending on which color you currently opt for.

While the AirPods 2 are the least advanced AirPods on the market, they still pack some impressive specs and are a great choice for those on a budget. They feature the same H1 chip as the AirPods 3, so they have the same blazing-fast connectivity and hands-free Siri access.

If you’re an active person, the Powerbeats Pro might just be the best headphones for you. With a wrap-around design and tucked-in tips, you’ll get a great fit and great audio. The charging case is larger than some, but chances are you’ll be throwing these in a bag anyway, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

These BeatsFlex earbuds are a great option for those who want a wireless listening experience without a gigantic pair of headphones. They’re perfect for workouts, phone calls, or listening to your favorite podcast during your commute. They’re also just $40 right now at Amazon , making them a quality pair of earbuds without the high price tag.

While these aren’t AirPods per se, we’re including them because Beats is owned by Apple. The Beats Studio Pro are a great alternative to Apple’s AirPods Max without sacrificing quality. They offer up to 40 hours of battery life, noise cancellation, and they pair easily with multiple operating systems, including Android.

Which AirPods are right for you?

Apple’s wireless audio lineup now includes five AirPods modelsAnd choosing the right pair depends on the features you care about and the price you’re willing to pay. The second-generation AirPods from 2019 are the least expensive option, while the current third-generation AirPods offer better sound quality with spatial audio. Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro 2, which have active noise cancellation and transparency modes, are Apple’s most advanced earbuds yet and the first to feature Apple’s new H2 chip. The cushy AirPods Max, by far the most expensive of the bunch, are Apple’s over-ear headphones and come packed with advanced features, though they lack the H2 chip.

In addition to Apple’s AirPods, there are a few earbuds worth considering from Beats that also feature Apple-made tech for a similarly smooth experience. These include the Beats Fit Pro, which use Apple’s H1 chip for fast, reliable connections and a sporty design made for jamming while running or otherwise being active. The Beats Studio Buds lack the H1 chip or stem of the AirPods, but they’re lightweight, comfortable, and affordable. The updated Beats Studio Buds Plus also lack the H1 chip but do add one-tap pairing to Apple (and Android) devices plus Find My support.

With the exception of the basic AirPods 2, all AirPods listed above (plus the Beats models) are compatible with Apple’s Spatial Audio Features. None of them will deliver the maximum quality Apple’s lossless audio formatwhich is too rich for the current Bluetooth wireless standard.
