Apple’s iPad lineup has really changed over the past few years, and the iPad Air is one of the best options for those looking for a combination of performance and portability. The latest model, the 2024 iPad Air, is affordable yet still more powerful than the previous generation thanks to the addition of a new chip among other improvements. It starts at $599, significantly lower than the iPad Pro it closely resembles. Throw in some additional discounts we’ve scoured from around the web, and that’s an incredible value considering what this tablet can do.

The M2 iPad Air is available as an all-new 13-inch model alongside the 11-inch variant. For most people, it’s a viable alternative to the more expensive iPad Pro, especially if you can find one on sale. The new iPad Air has plenty to get buyers excited about, including a fast chip and a gorgeous display.

These iPad Airs feature the older Liquid Retina tech, but unlike the mini LED of previous Pros or the tandem OLED of the latest M4 iPad Pro, they’re still not exactly something to be overlooked.

How much does the iPad Air cost?

Apple’s latest iPad Air, the 11-inch model, features landscape speakers with spatial audio for an immersive listening experience, and the 13-inch model offers extra bass to amplify the audio impact. These tablets may have the slightly older M2 chip, but they still promise to pack a serious punch. The base 11-inch model with 128GB of storage starts at just $599 , or you can upgrade to the 256GB model for $100 more. 512GB and 1TB models are also available for $899 and $1,099, respectively.

The iPad Air isn’t the only new option in town. If you’re looking for an Apple tablet that’s a little more advanced and robust, the latest iPad Pro might just be the right choice for you. These new Pro models promise to impress, with upgrades to the FaceTime camera placement and a thinner new design that makes the device more portable. If you opt for the Pro over the Air, you’ll be passing up the M3 chip in no time, as Apple has equipped the latest iPad Pro with the powerful M4 chip, which is capable of handling its brand new Ultra Retina XDR OLED displays (which punch out 1,600 nits of brightness in HDR) and much more. These upgrades do come at a price, with the base model starting at $999. You can pre-order the iPad Pro now.

We also expect to see a lot of iPad deals on older models soon, which could be a better option for budget buyers who don’t mind a previous-generation model.

Ready to invest in a new iPad Air? We’ve got the lowdown on how to get your hands on the ultra-thin iPads and accessories. You can pre-order now from Apple , and we’ll update this page as new deals become available from other retailers, so stay tuned.

Best iPad Air pre-order deals

You can now pre-order a new iPad Air model directly from Apple, starting at just $599. While we’re not seeing any direct discounts on the latest iPad Airs yet, if you have an older iPad that you’re happy to let go, you can get up to $580 in trade-in credit toward your new device. Folks who pre-order with an Apple Card can save a little extra, with up to 3% cash back on their purchase.

Best Buy doesn’t have any direct discounts on the iPad Air models at this time, but it does offer free extras with your order. New and returning subscribers can get three free months of Apple TV Plus and Apple Music, four free months of Apple Arcade, and one free month of MLS Season Pass. Three free months of Apple Fitness Plus are also included, but this offer is only valid for new subscribers.

If you have an older iPad that you’re looking to part with, Best Buy is also offering up to $310 in trade-in credit for qualifying devices. My Best Buy Plus members also get $30 off.

Walmart is currently offering a modest $35 discount on some configurations of the new iPad Air, but that’s better than nothing. The price could drop even further in the coming weeks.

Target is offering all four colors of the new iPad Air models, but there are currently no direct discounts available. Target RedCard holders can save 5% on this purchase, which is nothing to sneeze at, and free shipping can save you even more.

B&H is offering a killer $50 off that you can use toward a Space Gray 11-inch Apple Air M2 8-core chip with 128GB, Wi-Fi, and a screen resolution of 2,360×1,640 pixels.

There is another way to save. If you use the B&H Payboo creditcard for your purchase, you will get the tax back as a cash refund. That can be quite a bit, depending on where you live.

Amazon is currently offering an instant discount on the new M2 iPad Air. Depending on the color you choose, you can save $50.

Right now, Verizon is giving you up to $180 back when you trade in your old device, plus the chance to save $280 in credits when you buy a new 5G iPhone.

Buy a new iPad Air from AT&T and save $100 when you also purchase a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
