Best iPhone fast charger: buying advice
- Charging iPhones with Power Delivery requires a USB-C Power Delivery charger. While some of these chargers have USB-A ports, you’ll find the fastest charging for your iPhone using the USB-C port.
- iPhones released before 2023 have a Lightning port instead of the usual USB-C standard, so make sure you use a charging cable that meets your own requirements.
- Two ports are always better than one, allowing you to charge two phones at the same time, or a phone and an accessory like wireless headphones.
- Higher wattage is better up to a point. You’ll need at least 20W to get the fastest charge on a non-Pro iPhone, but if you grab a 45W or 65W charger you can use it with your laptop too.
- Many of these chargers use a fast semiconductor material called gallium nitrideAlso known as GaN, which has largely replaced older, slower silicon chips. GaN chargers can be smaller and build up less heat during charging thanks to their higher efficiency. They’re compatible with everything in Apple’s current lineup, from AirPods and iPhones to the large 16-inch MacBook Pro. However, they may not be optimal for models older than the iPhone 12.

Powered by Anker’s PowerIQ 3.0 technology, it charges over 2.5x faster than that 5-watt charger (with a USB-C to Lightning cable). It was recently upgraded from 18 to 20 watts.
A GaNFast charger, Spigen’s 20-watt ArcStation Pro is one of the smallest fast-charging USB-C chargers you’ll find. While the Anker Nano is slightly smaller, it doesn’t have a foldable plug like that model.
