Google makes exceptional phones, and last year’s additions to its lineup, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, were good enough to land a spot on our list of the best Android phones of 2024 thanks to their power, cool features, and usability. And while the newer Pixel 9 series has just launched, the Pixel 8 phones are still excellent devices that are worth considering. They certainly stack up well against other Android competitors with a higher sticker price, making them a great buy for anyone who wants a new phone or is ready for an upgrade and doesn’t want to spend a fortune.

When the Pixel 8 phones launched last fall, our reviewers praised their excellent displays, strong cameras, lengthy software support period, and powerful Tensor G3 processor. Additionally, the smaller Pixel 8 earned praise for its improved 120Hz refresh rate, and the Pixel 8 Pro gained a neat new temperature sensor.
