What is Prime Day?
Amazon’s October Prime Day event is officially called Prime Big Deal Days, but the shopping extravaganza essentially functions as a second Amazon Prime Day event ahead of the holidays. If you’ve never shopped a Prime Day sale before, you might be wondering what exactly it entails, so here’s a quick explanation. It’s a two-day Amazon sale that offers exclusive savings to Amazon Prime subscribers with limited-time offers, flash deals, and rock-bottom prices. It’s a rare opportunity to score Black Friday-level prices outside of November, so it’s usually worth shopping. The Prime Day event is happening this year October 8 and 9.
When is Amazon’s Prime Day 2024 event?
Amazon’s Prime Day event is October 8 and 9 this year. Although the sale still runs for another week, you can take advantage of some early deals now. Generally, the deals end this time at midnight on October 9. Some deals may last longer than the designated times of the sale.
How does October’s Prime Day compare to July’s Prime Day?
There are many similarities between the two sales. Many of the same deals will return during the October sale, especially on Amazon’s own devices like Blink and Ring home security devices, Fire TVs and tablets, Echo devices, and more.
The main difference has to do with the timing of the sale. Because Prime Day falls in summer in July, there is more focus on back-to-school and outdoor deals. This includes school supplies, grills, lawn mowers and more. During Prime Day in October, we’ll see more deals geared toward the upcoming holidays, like kitchenware for a Thanksgiving meal or kids’ toys and games for Christmas.
How does Prime Day work?
The idea behind the sale is quite simple: Subscribers to Amazon’s Prime service can get exclusive discounts on thousands of products and services on the site for a limited time. While the products are still available to non-Prime members, they will provide additional savings for members, with many prices dropping to new lows.
When you’re signed into your Prime account and look at a product landing page, you’ll see the discounted price if it’s on sale. Normally you don’t need any special coupon codes, nor is it necessary to use a specific payment method to get the discounts. If you spend your money wisely each year, you can easily recoup your Prime membership costs during the event.
What products are available for sale during Prime Day?
Since Amazon sells just about everything, the Prime Day bonanza also offers deals on just about everything. Whether you’re looking for technology, kitchen supplies, outdoor furniture or everyday essentials, October Prime Day offers you something in the way of savings.
At past sale events, some of the best savings have been on Amazon devices. This includes Kindle readers, Echo speakers, Fire TVs, and more. It’s not just Amazon’s own brands that are seeing steep discounts. You can get great deals on a range of major brands, including significant discounts on items like laptops, TVs and fitness equipment, to name a few.
