Biryani row: Board shifts boy to new school, cuts Rs 37,000 in fees | India News – Times of India
BIJNOR: ONE 7 year old boy, evicted for bringing non-vegetarian biryani in his tiffin to Hilton Public School in Amrohawill be transferred to a new school along with his two siblings. The administration facilitates the transfer after their mother decided to move her children to another institution. The education department will cover the cost of their enrollment, and Hilton Public School has agreed to waive the outstanding charges amounting to Rs 37,000.
An administrative investigation into the incident on Tuesday cleared the principal of any wrongdoing, saying the controversial video had been “edited.” However, school officials have fired the principal pending an internal investigation, which is still ongoing.
The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) for Amroha, Vishnu Pratap Singhsaid the government is helping the family with the transfer process. “We have discussed the matter with both the school management and the boy’s mother. Both parties have agreed to the transfer and the Ministry of Education is coordinating with other schools to enroll the children. Once the transfer certificate is issued, further procedures will begin,” he said.
The controversy began on Thursday when the boy was expelled for allegedly bringing non-vegetarian biryani to school in his lunch box. A heated exchange between the boy’s mother and the school principal, captured on video, was shared widely on social media, leading to public outrage and tension between the groups. In the video, the mother accused the school of discriminating against her son’s food preferences.
