NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday announced the construction of the Ram Temple in West Bengal to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. This came amid row over Trinamool Congress (MLA) comments saying the Babri Masjid was yet to be rebuilt 30 years after its demolition.
“Ram Mandir should not be built in response to the mosque. Babri Masjid can be built, and Ram Mandir can also be built… The same person who said that Babri Masjid will be built once said that Hindus would be slaughtered and thrown into the mosques. the Bhagirathi There was no warning or punishment for these statements,” said BJP leader Agnimitra Paul.
Accusing Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee of fueling communal tension in the state, she said, “Mamata Banerjee is behind these comments… She is preparing a new Bangladesh for her vote bank. Ram Mandir will be built. We will commemorate the one year of elections. the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, and the foundation stone will be laid at Berhampur.”
Earlier, TMC MLA Humayun Kabir had made comments on the Babri Masjid and called it a deeply emotional issue for Muslims.
“The Babri Masjid was a sentimental issue for Muslims. It was built by Babur and we all know that Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992. It has been thirty years and the Babri Masjid has not been rebuilt yet. In 2019, the Supreme Court issued a unanimous verdict and allocated five hectares of land for the construction of a mosque.
“In Bengal, especially in Murshidabad, some are saying that a new Babri Masjid will be built to provoke people. But there’s no problem with that. There’s no problem. If you ask where the land of the Babri Masjid will be acquired, let me clarify that we have not approached the state government for any land for the Babri Masjid. No, we have no intention of taking government land or subsidies,” he added.
Kabir rejected the allegations of Bangladeshi involvement and said border security was the responsibility of the central government, claiming he had not noticed any such problems in the area.
