BJP campaign in Jharkhand causes division, Congress tells Election Commission – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Accusing the BJP of continuing with its ‘communal and divisive’ campaign in Jharkhand, the Congress on Sunday filed a complaint with the Election Commission asking it to take strict action against BJP functionaries and ban the Facebook and block X accounts of the party.
Congress party Jairam Ramesh said, “Our second complaint to the Election Commission against BJP’s false, misleading and communal social media posts being uploaded on BJP’s official Facebook and X account.
Despite registering a criminal case, BJP has not deleted their previous social media posts. They are clearly continuing their communal and divisive campaign for Jharkhand with impunity. We hope the EC takes strict action against BJP functionaries and their social media handlers.”
Ramesh said the petition was aimed at highlighting instances of “persistent and blatant violations of the provisions of the ‘model code of conduct’ and existing election laws being committed by the Jharkhand unit of BJP.”
