BJP fears dissipated within minutes of election results: Rahul Gandhi in Texas | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Speaking at an event organised by the Indian diaspora in Dallas, US, Congressman and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that fear of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Prime Minister Modi disappeared among the people of India immediately after the Lok Sabha announcement election results earlier this year.
Sharing his perspective on the post-2024 Lok Sabha election scenario, Rahul Gandhi said, “The other thing that happened which was very beautiful, and I was actually surprised that it happened so quickly, was that the fear of the BJP disappeared, vanished, was gone and we saw that immediately. Within minutes of the election results, nobody in India was afraid of the BJP or the Prime Minister of India.”
“So these are huge achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party. We are peripheral. These are huge achievements of the people of India who have realised democracy, of the people of India who have realised that we will not accept any attack on our Constitution. We will not accept any attack on our religion. We will not accept any attack on our states,” Gandhi added.

Gandhi also spoke about what he thinks is the difference in the idea of India between the RSS and the Congress Party. He said, “The RSS believes that India is one idea and we believe that India is a plurality of ideas and we believe, as the United States does, that everybody should be allowed to participate.”
In his address, Rahul Gandhi also said that his vision for the nation includes contributions from individuals from diverse backgrounds. “We believe that everyone should be given a chance to dream. Everyone should be given space irrespective of caste, language, religion, tradition and history. This is the struggle and the struggle was crystallised in the elections when millions of people in India clearly understood that the Prime Minister of India is attacking the Constitution of India because what I am saying to you, union of states, respect for languages, respect for religions, respect for traditions, respect for castes. All this is in the Constitution,” he said.
“Every word that I said to you is in the Constitution. The foundation of modern India is the Constitution and what people clearly understood in the elections and I saw it happening when I raised the Constitution in this way, people understood what I was saying. They said that the BJP is attacking our tradition, attacking our language, attacking our states, attacking our history and most importantly what they understood was that whoever attacks the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious tradition,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday for a three-day visit to the US. The Congress MP was welcomed at the airport by Sam Pitroda, president of the Indian Overseas Congress, and members of the Indian diaspora.
