MUMBAI: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government as he campaigned for the BJP and the ruling alliance ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on Sunday.
CM Dhami campaigned for BJP leader and Mahayuti candidate from Mumbai’s Bandra West Assembly constituency Ashish Shelar and addressed an election rally here.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and pointed to major development projects in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, such as a national road network and the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway, which is under construction.
“In Maharashtra, more than 50 million people have benefited from the Ujjwala scheme, and the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana has transformed lives. Roads even reach the border areas in Uttarakhand and connect our four dhams,” said an official press release quoting the chief minister.
Underlining the central government’s progress, he also pointed to projects like the Mumbai Coastal Road and India’s longest sea bridge connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, which have improved travel and infrastructure on the west coast.
“The BJP is fulfilling its promises. Historical changes such as the abolition of Article 370, the end of triple talaq, 33 percent reservation for women and the construction of the Ram temple are proof,” he outlined.
Criticizing the opposition parties, Dhami contrasted the BJP’s development focus with what he called the “corruption, appeasement and nepotism” of the Congress and the Maharashtra opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi.
“The opposition’s view is limited to their own families; they have looted and betrayed the people of Maharashtra,” he said, further accusing opposition leaders of holding back development and encouraging corruption.
“Congress and NCP leaders are talking about bringing back Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, but the people of Maharashtra will teach them a lesson by giving a huge majority to the BJP in the elections,” he said as quoted in the press release.
“In the upcoming elections, the people of Maharashtra will teach such opposition parties a lesson and make the BJP candidates win with a large majority,” the press release said, quoting Dhami.
During the meeting, CM Dhami also emphasized the importance of support from the Uttarakhand community in the state elections. He acknowledged the role of the Uttarakhand community in the electoral landscape of Maharashtra.
“The silver jubilee year of our state has begun, and it is a matter of pride to see so many women in traditional Pahadi attire,” the official statement said quoting Dhami.
The Chief Minister urged all present to extend their support to Ashish Shelar in the upcoming November 20 elections. To help the people of Uttarakhand reach Mumbai for the elections, he noted that trains are running from different parts of Uttarakhand.
Dhami praised Shelar’s sincere support for the Uttarakhand community in Maharashtra.
“Ashish Shelar cares for every Uttarakhandi from the heart. All Uttarakhandis are like members of his family,” he said.
Highlighting the contributions of the people of Uttarakhand in Maharashtra, Dhami encouraged community members to raise awareness of Shelar’s campaign.
“The people of Uttarakhand play an important role in the elections in Maharashtra. We need to go door to door, talk to voters and urge them to vote for the BJP,” Dhami’s statement said.
The Assembly elections in Maharashtra are scheduled for November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies being counted on November 23.
