BJP, RSS erode core values of statute: Rahul Gandhi | India News – Times of India
Rahul challenged the RSS-BJP, claiming that the Sangh is avoiding direct attacks on the Constitution to avoid public backlash, but instead using narratives of “development, progress and economy” to mask its intentions. “Their covert actions weakened the rights of marginalized communities. If RSS opposes the principles of the Constitution, they should confront us openly,” he said, questioning the transparency of the BJP.
Central to Gandhi’s speech was his demand for a national caste census, which he said would expose inequalities in access to resources and power between different communities. According to him, the lack of such a census hides the differences. “Caste counting is keeping Modi awake,” he claimed, noting that the demand for a detailed count of marginalized groups exposes the BJP’s unwillingness to acknowledge inequalities.
Gandhi targeted RSS-backed educational institutions, including Shishu Mandirs and Eklavya Schools, questioning their intentions and funding. He expressed concern that these schools, which are acquiring significant amounts of land and resources, are serving a political agenda rather than educational goals. “Do the funds for these schools come from BJP-ruled states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, or from corporate giants like Adani and Ambani,” he asked, citing corporate and political motives behind these expansions.
Rebutting Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis’s comment that Gandhi had shown a copy of the Constitution with a red cover instead of the traditional blue, Gandhi defended his choice and stated that the color symbolized commitment to the country’s fundamental values .
