‘BJP wants to take ‘Jal, Jameen, Jungle’ from tribals,’ says Rahul Gandhi at Jharkhand rally | India News – Times of India
Rahul Gandhi addresses the gathering
“BJP wants to grab ‘Jal, Jameen, Jungle’ (water, land and forest) from tribals,” the Congress leader said at a rally in Simdega. “BJP believes in capturing tribal land under its ‘newly coined word development’,” he further alleged.
Gandhi then highlighted the struggles faced by tribes in India, claiming that the BJP does not support them. “There is no participation of Dalits, backward classes and tribes in the country. The people of the Dalit, backward and tribal communities are capable. There is nothing missing from you; you can do any kind of work, but your path is blocked. When I raised the issue of caste census in Parliament, Narendra Modi fell silent. I want 90% of the country’s population to be represented, but the BJP wants the country to be governed by a few people like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Ambani-Adani,” he said.
He then intensified his criticism by stating: “Today there is a battle between two ideologies in the country. On one side is the INDIA alliance, and on the other side is BJP and RSS. While the INDIA alliance is working to protect the Constitution, BJP-RSS wants to destroy it. The Constitution is not just a book; it embodies the thoughts of Birsa Munda, Ambedkar, Phule and Mahatma Gandhi. It protects the tribals, Dalits, backward communities and the poor of the country. That is why the INDIA alliance wants the country to be governed by the Constitution.”
Rahul Gandhi also reiterated the INDIA bloc’s commitment to transform Jharkhand by addressing fundamental needs across communities. He asserted that their seven guarantees – from strengthening food security to promoting local identity and ensuring employment – would lay a strong foundation for sustainable growth in the state. Gandhi emphasized that these initiatives are not only aimed at economic empowerment, but also at social justice, with a special focus on local customs and the well-being of marginalized communities. The INDIA bloc, he stated, is committed to creating a Jharkhand where every individual, especially women, youth and farmers, can thrive with dignity and equal opportunities.
