Black Ops 6 Season 1 Announced, New Zombies Map Coming in December
Activision has finally revealed the details of what will happen in Season 01 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The game’s first season, rolling out on November 14, adds a total of six new maps (one of which is a variant), as well as a new zombies map and three new modes, including Ransack, Prop Hunt and Multiplayer Rated Play.
Activision posted extensive update on the Call of Duty blogand the information was too released on the PlayStation blog. This follows recent news of a revamped Nuketown map and the addition of Infected mode, as well as an expanded double XP event. One of the six new maps for Season 1 will be a holiday version of the new Nuketown. The battle royale mode Warzone will also get a new Resurgence map, Area 99, and will feature changes from Black Ops 6, including Omnimovement, sprays and emotes.
The new zombies map Citadelle Des Morts will launch in December, along with a new perk, field upgrade and ammo mod. Fans of Black Ops 3 zombies will notice that the castle layout is very reminiscent of Der Eisendrache. The last time Call of Duty got a new zombie map this early was in 2018 with Black Ops 4’s Dead of the Night.
For players who have not yet completed the Main Quest Easter eggs for the launch maps, Terminus and Liberty Falls, a new Directed mode will be coming in Season 1. This guided experience takes players through the narrative beats of those cards without forcing them to watch complicated YouTube guides for help. Players who want to unlock an exclusive calling card must earn the unique cosmetic feature by completing the Main Quests before launching Directed Mode.
A Hit List event is planned for this season, but there is no release date yet. Some of the new weapons for Season 01 include Battle Pass weapons, the Krig CAR and the Saug SMG. There will also be Buffer Weight Stock and Dragon’s Breath attachments, in addition to in-season additions.
Two new bundles are also available for Season 1, Tracer Pack: The Replacer and Brightmare. Tracer Pack will be released on November 14th and Brightmare will follow at a later date.
Activision says it’s keeping some substantive mysteries under wraps for now, but for the rest of the details on what’s been revealed so far, check out the very long post on the Call of Duty blog.
