Bridal party covers the big band’s first number one single for a wedding
An Oasis-mad bride and her bridesmaids recreated one of the band’s most famous record covers on her wedding day at the famous ‘Some Might Say’ train station.
Robyn Hixon, 38, grew up near Cromford train station in Derbyshire but never realized she was living a piece of Britpop history until her teens.
She had always been fascinated by the Grade II listed Victorian building so was delighted to discover the link with Oasis as she was a big fan.
The station is featured on the cover of Some Might Say – one of the band’s most famous singles, which launched them to superstardom in 1995.
So when she tied the knot with husband Tommy, 33, earlier this year, she couldn’t think of a better place to stay with her bridal party than the holiday home on the station.
Oasis songs were played during the reception, including Robyn’s favorite ‘Half The World Away’ and other indie and Britpop songs.
She said it was actually her maid of honor Joey Hall who came up with the idea to recreate the cover the night before her wedding day.
Robyn, who now lives in Perth, said: “We had a festival themed wedding that day.
“A few Oasis songs were played.”
Robyn has now promised that she and her bridesmaids will go to the gig in their wedding attire if they can get enough tickets for them all.
Robyn, who works in construction, added: “We managed to get some tickets but my bridesmaid needs some.
“If I get more, I’ll wear my wedding dress to the gig.”
