Scrum-Half White, 26, missed-the traveling contingent was announced on 8 May during a flashy presentation in the O2-Arena but will probably continue Scotland‘s Summer Tour against the Maori All Blacks, Fiji and Samoa.

Burrage – who makes her French open Main debut next week – said: “It was difficult for him, in recent weeks, with certain decisions. But he does the best he can do.

“Is he stand -for the lions? They don’t hear it. They don’t hear anything. It was a terrible day.

“It’s madness how they don’t hear anything. I didn’t realize what it would be like. Watching (on TV) was not the best experience.

“He did his best. He responded better than I would probably do.

“Hopefully you would imagine that he would be the next if something would happen.

“I want the best for him. That is the ultimate dream for every 15s rugby player. We will see.

“It is also not his last chance to get to that team. He will continue to work hard. He will come there at some point.

“The ‘not knowing’ was probably the worst. Now the decision has been made and he has his goals and he can continue there, he has been a lot better. It is good – no more distractions!

“To be honest, this was probably the only time that something ever derived me (on the field). Professional sport is so emotional, up and down, and when you put together two, the massacre is.

“You have to take the highlights with the lows, so it will be fine. We are doing well!”

Burrage – who is opposite American Danielle Collins in the first round one – was comforted by White when she was wounded in her last practice session before she went to the Roland Garros tournament 2024.

Scans showed burrage, 25, suffered an “almost complete break” from one of her ankle nigguers after an attempt to pick up a drop-shot from Katie-Boulter.

The Surrey star – who is set to British no. 7 spot because of her resignation in the injury – said: “I am happy to be here. I didn’t make it last year.

“I got a memory on my phone that was last year this time when I did my ankle for the French. My flight was the next day or two days later when it happened.

“I didn’t have a great practice day here on Friday.

“So I needed that memory that I was sitting on my couch with my foot in a boot and on crutches. I am not taking where I am self -evident.

“But I practiced with Emma Raducanu and she hit a drop shot, exactly the same, and I didn’t come for that. I didn’t want to take that risk again!

“Happy to get on the field now. Hopefully I can cause some damage.”
