SNOW and cold storms are in store as the Met Office warns of heavy rain hitting Britain.

A pattern of unrest weather Much of Britain is forecast to wake up to fog and frost this morning, with snow expected by the end of the week.

The forecast for today is cloudy in the eastern and northeastern areas with isolated showers.

Fog and frost will clear in most parts of the country, making way for sunny spells later this morning.

But for those in the south England And WalesTemperatures will remain “quite breezy”, the Met Office predicts.

Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said in a forecast on YouTube: “Showers will fall across the far south east of England and showers will develop in southern England during the day around mid to late morning. England and Wales.”

Showers will move across Britain in the afternoon and develop over northern England.

“There is quite a bit of a breeze towards the West Country and the western parts of Scotland, and there is a good breeze as well,” Clare Nasir added.

The east coast will feel the cold today, with winds around 8 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, temperatures inland are slightly warmer, with a predicted average temperature of 12 to 13 degrees.

And a brighter and sunny day is forecast for the west Scotland, Northern Ireland and West Wales.

The showers will move further north in the evening and throughout the night.

Icy patches are expected in the north of Scotland on Friday morning, with the mercury dropping to 2 degrees Celsius in some hilly areas.

“It may get windy, especially on higher ground,” the meteorologist explains.

And the Met Office predicts snow will fall within days.

The long-term forecast predicts from Saturday: “In general it will become more unsettled.

“Often cloudy with some outbreaks of rain, becoming heavy in places.

“Some snow over the Scottish mountains.

“It continues to feel quite cold with fresh, locally strong winds.”
