And more good news for the 2021 premiership winner: Burton is expected to be part of coach Mal Meninga’s Kangaroos roster for the World Cup.

Bulldogs supremo Phil Gould revealed that the club has postponed ankle surgery for the off-season so that Burton can travel to the UK.

“He can play in a number of positions. He’s such a player now and I think it would be a great experience for him to leave,” Gould said on Nine’s 100% Footy.

“I know he’s looking forward to it. We actually had him booked in for surgery last week, he had a little problem with his ankle.

“But we’re happy to suspend that.”
