Bupa launches £17-a-month subscription service as GP satisfaction hits all-time low
Bupa is launching a Netflix-style private GP subscription service, from £17 a month, as GP satisfaction hits an all-time low.
The private health insurer came up with the plan after a study showed that 32 percent of people value paid access to a GP or dentist more than a television subscription.
The service costs £16.99 per month or £200 per year and allows customers to book an appointment with a doctor by phone or video calling.
For £21.66 or £260 per year, customers are also entitled to face-to-face appointments at one of Bupa’s 54 clinics. Both services include free delivery of prescriptions to a local or local pharmacy.

Public satisfaction with GP care was just 34 per cent earlier this year, according to a survey of British social attitudes.
A poll commissioned by Bupa and conducted by Censuswide also found that a third of adults found it difficult to get a GP appointment, with 31 per cent having to wait more than a week to see a doctor.
Dr Elizabeth Rogers from Bupa Health Clinics said: ‘Our Netflix-style GP subscription gives customers easy access to same-day appointments with doctors and 24/7 access to our Anytime Healthline.’
