Turia Pitt reveals she ‘paniced’ and ‘wasn’t ready’ when she became pregnant after sustaining horrific injuries in ultramarathon fire










Turia Pitt has revealed how she ‘paniced’ when she first became pregnant.

After suffering horrific injuries in ultramarathon fires in 2011, the inspirational public speaker says she didn’t know if she and her fiancé Michael Hoskin could have a child.

‘I didn’t know if I could get pregnant. But then Michael and I started trying, and we actually got pregnant really quickly,” she tells Nine Honey.

Concerns: Turia Pitt has revealed how she ‘paniced’ when she first became pregnant.

The 34-year-old added that she was concerned about parenthood when she got the news.

“I was more panicked than excited. I’m someone who is very planned and structured, so I wasn’t ready,” she said.

Once she had her first child, Turia said she quickly discovered motherhood was empowering.

She welcomed her first son, Hakavai, with long-term partner Michael in December 2017.

The couple welcomed their second child, son Rahiti, in February 2020.

The couple became engaged in 2015, with Michael previously revealing that he bought the diamond ring while Turia was in intensive care in 2011.

Turia suffered horrific burns to 64 percent of her body when she was caught in a forest fire in Western Australia during an ultramarathon in 2011.

“I’m really proud of my relationship with Michael,” she told Stellar Magazine last year.

“We’ve been through something catastrophic and extremely traumatic and this may sound stupid, but we’re living our best life and we’re happy.

“We have these beautiful children together, and although we are not perfect, we accept each other.”
