Cairns father Nithin Paul dies unexpectedly at 37

The unexpected death of a father of two leaves his pregnant widow to raise their children alone.

Nithin Paul, 37, died suddenly on Sunday in Cairns in far north Queensland.

His wife Dayana and their young children were left without a husband and father.

Mr Paul was born in Kerala in southern India and moved with his family to New Zealand in 2021 and then to Cairns.

He was the hospitality coordinator at the Malayali Association Cairns (MAC) and a prominent member of the local Malayali community.

The MAC board expressed its condolences to his family and promised to support them in every possible way.

The group has already been set up a GoFundMe to support Mr. Paul’s family in the future.

“During this difficult time, we would like to support Nithin’s family in every way possible,” the page reads.

The funds raised will help alleviate the burden of immediate and ongoing expenses for the family.

‘Over the past few years, Nithin has worked tirelessly to support our community, both personally and as a member of MAC.

“He was a dedicated and selfless individual who worked tirelessly to improve our community through his involvement with MAC.”

MAC chairman Bindhu Louis said Mr Paul was keen to care for his community.

He was always a cheerful man, he was a catering person and made delicious food for us,’ said Mrs. Louis. told the Cairns Post.

“He was a great guy who spent most of his life in Cairns serving the community.”

News of Mr Paul’s death was also shared online by the North Shore Malayali Association, which sent its “sincere condolences” to the family.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Nithin Paul, an active member of our community before moving to Australia a few years ago,” the statement said.

Mr. Paul was previously a chef at Royal Caribbean’s executive chef before he left for his own catering company, Dum Dum Biryani.

His parents and brother are now trying to arrange a trip to Australia to be with Mrs Paul and their grandchildren.
