‘Can’t make public comments’: SC’s bail conditions for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case related to the alleged liquor policy scam.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan took issue with the Central Bureau of Investigation while delivering the verdict, stating that prolonged detention amounts to unlawful deprivation of liberty.
The high court added that Kejriwal was arrested only after he was granted bail in the PMLA case and that this was done only to keep him in custody.
Justice Bhuyan also observed that the CBI must take steps to remove the impression of a parrot in a cage and like Caesar Wife, the CBI must be above suspicion during the investigation.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024 in connection with a money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in Delhi’s now-cancelled excise policy for 2021-22.
On June 26, 2024, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI while he was in custody of the Enforcement Directorate in the excise case.

Delhi CM was granted bail of 10 lakh rupees and two sureties. - The Supreme Court also directed Kejriwal not to make any public comment on the merits of the case.
- The Supreme Court also banned Kejriwal from visiting his office or signing any official documents.
- The court also barred Kejriwal from communicating with witnesses and accessing files related to the case.
- Kejriwal was also asked to attend all hearings before the court unless he was excused.
