Captured leopard gasps as forest rangers wait 12 hours for arrows
RAIPUR: A three-year-old leopardcaught in a wire trap, died painfully on Thursday while forest rangers waited for twelve hours tranquilizer darts to be transported to the location Chhattisgarh‘S Mohla Manpurreports Partha Behera.
By the time it was rescued and to Nandanvan Jungle Safari in Nava Raipur, 160 km away, it was too late.
Police say 44-year-old farmer Naval Singh set the trap to protect his cattle from wild animals but the leopard got stuck in it on Tuesday.
According to DFO Dinesh Patel, the leopard could have been saved if it had been rescued within two to three hours, but the local forest crew did not have tranquilizers.
