Casey O’Neill: Australian UFC 305 star imitates Olympic breakdancer Raygun, wins Octagon fight
- Casey O’Neill won her fight at UFC 305 in Perth
- Defeated Luana Santos on points on Sunday
- Had a message for Rachael Gunn after the game
Australian fighter Casey O’Neill celebrated her victory at UFC 305 by imitating Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn in the Octagon and then delivering a brutal attack on the Olympic breakdancer.
Gunn became one of the biggest stories of the Paris Olympics when she was widely criticized for her dance moves, such as imitating a kangaroo and using the “sprinkler” dance.
The 36-year-old saw her fans rally behind her after she opened up about the mental toll the trolling had taken on her.
On Sunday, local time, O’Neill defeated Brazilian Luana Santos at the RAC Arena in Perth. He celebrated the unanimous decision by the judges by showing off some of Raygun’s eye-catching moves.
The 26-year-old burst into tears as the victory was announced to the crowd, then dropped to the mat, rolled onto her side and bent over, throwing her hands toward her feet in a mimic of one of Gunn’s most-repeated moves.
She then jumped to her feet and held her hands in front of her chest, palms down, in a nod to Gunn’s now-famous kangaroo move, which has also been described as resembling a tyrannosaurus rex.
O’Neill used her post-match press conference to slyly attack Gunn.

When asked how she rated her breakdancing in the Octagon, the Queensland fighter replied: “I give it a 10. I think I did better than she did at the Olympics.”
I think if they bring it [breaking] “I’ll be back before 2028 and then I might have to take a break from MMA and go get a gold medal.”
In a heartfelt message posted to her Instagram page last Thursday, Raygun admitted the online abuse is “pretty devastating.”
‘I didn’t realize that this would also open the door to so much hate, which has honestly been quite devastating.
She also asked people to stop “harassing” her and her friends and family and to “respect their privacy.”
And while some chose to respond with negative comments, which Daily Mail Australia did not publish, large groups of fans rallied behind the university lecturer.
“Hope your mental health is okay,” one Instagram follower said. “Take care of yourself first, lots of love.”
“Ignore the haters, you’re amazing,” another fan said. “Be very proud. You’re a true, fun-loving Aussie. You’re as much of a sporting legend as Steven Bradbury. Never to be forgotten.”

“I’m on your side, Rachael,” a third follower said. “You already know that.”
A fourth fan wrote: ‘You are an icon. Happy holidays!’
Another fan posted a response to the trolls: ‘She made us all laugh, why the hate?’
O’Neill’s victory came after she suffered two straight defeats, which she said had left her in a dark period.
“I think only fighters really understand what it feels like to lose two fights. It’s more than just a bad day at work. It’s like an identity crisis,” she said after the win.
“You have to go back and make sure you’re confident in yourself and everything. It takes a lot of work. I’m thankful that all the work paid off tonight.
“It was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Sorry, I’m really emotional because it meant so much to me.”
