Casino, NSW: Body of woman in her 40s discovered, man, 31, arrested
Police have launched an investigation into a serious incident after a woman’s body was found in a home in northern New South Wales.
In a statement, NSW Police said they were called to a house on Johnston Street, Casino at around 2.30am on Saturday morning following reports of welfare concerns.
Officers from the Richmond Police District responded to the scene to assist the woman, but she died at the scene.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, has not yet been formally identified.
A 31-year-old man – believed to be known to the woman – was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Police Station, where he is assisting police with their investigation.
A crime scene has been established and a critical incident team from the Tweed/Byron police district will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident, including all aspects of the NSW Police response.
That investigation will be subject to an independent investigation.
The ABC reports that an incident has been declared critical, but emergency services have not designated the incident as a higher priority.

Officers from the State Crime Command’s homicide squad are assisting officers from Richmond Police District with their investigation into the woman’s death.
