TELEVISION fans can now enjoy six additional live channels without paying a cent.

Pluto TV has announced that it has updated its free-to-view app with some bonus content.

The app is an ad-supported rival to Netflix and Disney+.

There is no charge to watch Pluto TV, but you will have to endure commercials.

Pluto TV features more than 250 live channels, with six more joining the roster, as revealed by Cord Cutters News.

There are a few live news and horror films – as well as some quirky additions.

The full list of newly added channels includes:

• BBC news
• Difficult jobs

These channels are now live in the app and can be watched for free.

If you’ve never used Pluto TV, it’s worth considering.

It is one of a series of popular free TV apps that offer a free alternative to increasingly expensive streaming services.

You can download the app on a wide range of devices.

If you want to watch Pluto TV on smart TVs, you can get it on Fire TV, Google TV, Hisense, LG, Roku, Samsung TV Plus, and Vizio.

It is also possible to access the app on streaming devices such as an Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft’s Xbox, Roku and TiVo.

And you can download it on iOS for iPhoneAndroid, and also install it as a desktop app on Windows.

Finally, there is the option to simply stream directly through a web browser such as Safari or Google Chrome if desired.

THERE is no concrete evidence that Earth is a tourist destination for aliens – despite increasing public acceptance of this possibility.

That said, there are several areas in Britain and the US that have become hotbeds for UFO or UAP reports.

Today, UFOs are commonly described as unidentified anomalous phenomena or UAPs.

It is a modern term that refers to anything seen in the sky that cannot be attributed to natural phenomena or unclassified technology.

The West has a historic relationship with UAP – Area 51 in Nevada, Roswell in New Mexico and here in Utah we have Skinwalker Ranch in the Uinta Basin.

Manchester, United Kingdom

Manchester is home to 27 UAP reports since 2021 and is one of the top hotspots for alien sightings in Britain, followed by London and Liverpool.

Between 2021 and 2023, almost 1,000 UAP sightings had been reported in Britain.

Last year it was revealed by UFO Identified that there had been a total of 54 documented sightings in Greater Manchester, followed by 52 in London and 20 in Liverpool.

In 2015, a Ryanair flight was delayed in landing due to unexplained UFO sightings over the River Mersey.

A sighting of a reported UAP over Formby, Liverpool, described it as “two lights moving up and down at an angle, too far apart to be an aircraft or a drone.”

Wiltshire, United Kingdom

Wiltshire has a long and documented history of crop circle formations and UAP sightings, dating back to the 1950s.

Farmers have discovered crop circles on their land and locals claim to have seen ‘iridescent orbs’ shooting through the sky.

There are also claims that these UAPs kill flocks of birds and cause cars to break down.

Bonnybridge, United Kingdom

A quaint Scottish town called Bonnybridge is one of the most visited places in the world for UFO sightings.

Since the first reported glimpse in 1992, this sleepy village has averaged 300 UFO sightings per year.

The sheer number of reports has fueled speculation that the village is a portal to another dimension.

Although many villagers are ashamed of the association.

Local councilor Billy Buchanan has called on several prime ministers to investigate these strange apparitions.

Buchanan even rejected an apology from the Ministry of Defence’s chief UFO commentator, Nick Pope, who dismissed the reports last year.

Washington, USA

Washington, home to the White House, and neighboring Oregon, were both revealed in a recent report as two popular areas for UFO sightings.

Researchers from the University of Utah found that most hotspots are areas that are more open, rural and less brightly lit.

“The West has a historic relationship with UAP – Area 51 in Nevada, Roswell in New Mexico and here in Utah we have Skinwalker Ranch in the Uinta Basin and military activities at the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground,” say geographer Richard Medina, of the University of Utah.

“Plus, there is a robust outdoor community that recreates year-round on public lands. People are outside and looking at the sky.”

It’s no surprise that the Pacific Northwest is home to many of the country’s UFO sightings, thanks to our pitch-black skies and curious minds.

In 2022, Washington was named as the top state for alien sightings according to data from the National UFO Reporting Centerrecording more reports per capita than any other state.

That’s roughly 88 sightings per 100,000 residents – more than double the number reported from most states.

In Oregon, there were 69.7 UFO sightings per 100,000 residents in the Portland metro area alone between 2000 and 2023 – that’s almost 1,750 strange occurrences in the past two decades.

Nevada, USA

The mythology behind Area 51 in Nevada not only attracts tourists, but also reports of unidentified aircraft.

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, Nevada’s Lincoln County had the most reported UFO sightings among U.S. counties between 2000 and 2023, with 82.9 per 100,000 residents.

The National UFO Reporting Center is a non-governmental organization where people can submit reports about unusual phenomena in the US.

According to Centre’s Chief Technology Officer Christian Stepien, only a fraction of people who see something unusual in the sky actually file a report.

“I would estimate that people who see things that they think are UFOs or that are real UFOs — we think maybe five percent report that, maybe not even that,” he told Axios.

Most sightings are believed to be military activities, with Area 51 considered a top secret US Air Force facility.

Arizona, USA

Maricopa County, Arizona had about 56 UFO sightings per 100,000 residents between 2000 and 2023, according to data from the National UFO Reporting Center.

Other parts of the state – such as La Paz and Gila counties – are also reporting mysterious objects in the sky at an even higher rate.

That national average is roughly 34 observations per 100,000 residents.

New sightings were recorded in the southeastern US and the country’s central plains, while credible links were discovered between clusters of sightings and commercial and military air traffic.

“There are many factors that can contribute to the reporting of anomalous objects,” say geographer Simon Brewer of the University of Utah.

“By examining the spatial distribution of reports and how they relate to the local environment, we hope to provide a geographic context that can help resolve or understand reports from both the public and in military environments.”

To offer so much for free, Kanopy partners with public libraries and universities to bring viewers ad-free content that can be viewed on TV, on a smartphone or on a laptop.

“Kanopy does not charge fees because the public library or university covers all associated costs, allowing you to watch for free without ads,” the company wrote.

The app is available on Apple TVs, Roku, Chromcast, AndroidTV, Amazon Fire and Samsung televisions.

However, there is a limit to the amount of content you can watch on Kanopy.

Each viewer receives a fixed number of Play Credits each month that can be spent on viewing content, although this number may increase if you are a member of multiple libraries.

Viewers will then have approximately 48 to 72 hours to watch content before the Play credit expires.

It’s important to note that there are a number of credit-free movies you can watch, and the Kanopy Kids section is free and unlimited to watch.

“I’ll sing Kanopy’s praises until I’m blue in the face,” say one viewer on X (formerly Twitter).

FIRST GAME – DINOSAUR GAME

One of the most famous Easter eggs that Google has hidden for you iPhone is the dinosaur game.

It is designed to keep you entertained when you lose internet access.

So it’s great if you’re stuck on a plane or your WiFi goes out, or if you’re just a bit bored.

To get this, turn off your Wi-Fi and mobile internet or turn on airplane mode.

Now load any website and wait for this to happen failure because you don’t have internet.

An error page will appear with a small dinosaur icon visible.

Tap the dinosaur and it starts running. Keep tapping to make him jump.

The idea is to run and jump to avoid the obstacles and achieve the highest score possible.

SECOND GAME – FLIPPER BALL

But wait, there’s more! Google has also put a secret game into its main iPhone app.

Go to the App Store and find the Google app if you don’t already have it.

Launch the app and then tap the tabs icon at the bottom of the screen.

CAPCOM’s latest action role-playing game just released Friday and fans are eager to get into the massive open world.

The game received rave reviews from critics, but some fans are slamming the game for a controversial feature that went unnoticed before launch.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 may be one of the best games of the year, but fans have discovered its secret dark spot: microtransactions.

The fantasy RPG’s Steam page currently lists 21 microtransactions, ranging from £0.89/$0.99 to £4.45/$4.99.

They unlock features like the Portcrystal, which allows you to warp to new locations in the game.

Wakestones, which allow you to reanimate the dead, are another in-game item that can be purchased for real money.

Most DLC listings note that these items are also available for free in-game, either through earned in-game gold or through organic discoveries.

Nevertheless, players are suggesting that developer Capcom may have refrained from giving players certain items so they can sell them instead.

In a game that already costs £53.98/$69.99, this extra cost seems particularly vampiric.

In total, buying all the extra bits would set you back $41.79 (or £33.20), on top of the money you’ve already spent on the base game.

Particularly egregious is the character editor for £1.70/$1.99.

This item is called ‘Art of Metamorphosis – Character Editor’ and can only be used once.

It unlocks the ability to change your appearance in the game or that of your main pawn, the character that accompanies you on your adventures.

Like all other items, you can obtain it by playing the game and earning enough in-game Rift Crystals, but many players disapprove of Capcom offering it for real money.

We called the game a masterpiece in our Dragon’s Dogma 2 review, but there’s nothing great about the microtransactions.

PLAYSTATION fans are already excited about the latest PS5 exclusive just hours after launch.

Rise of the Ronin just released on PS5 and gamers are already dragging it to Twitter.

Team Ninja’s samurai action game angers players with disappointing visuals and poor performance.

“Rise of Ronin is running like crap,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Did they really ship Rise of the Ronin like that?” asks another.

People have even posted technical breakdowns comparing the three different modes: performance, quality, and ray tracing.

Performance mode usually trades visual quality for a higher frame rate, so the game runs smoothly at 60 frames per second on the latest generation of consoles.

According to one poster, Rise of the Ronin’s Performance mode drops to 40 frames per second, while the ray tracing mode sometimes even drops to 20 frames per second.

The same Twitter user was surprised that Rise of Ronin was released in its current state.

The game’s performance issues and dated graphics feel all the stranger considering it’s a current-gen exclusive, meaning it won’t be released for Sony’s last-gen console, PS4.

Other users compared the latest PS5 game to much older releases in an attempt to prove that decade-old games look better than Rise of Ronin.

It’s bad news for those expecting a samurai-focused game on par with 2020’s excellent Ghost of Tsushima.

While RPG fans have a same-day saving grace, and conveniently for them, it could be the game of the year.

THE Pokémon Company is known for going after anyone who uses Pokémon without permission.

As a recent case shows, even if the content is almost a decade old, it can still receive a copyright strike.

NoahJ456, who has more than five million subscribers on YouTube, tweeted how The Pokémon Company removed a video he posted seven years ago.

The popular Call of Duty content creator’s video featured Pokémon adapted into Call of Duty Zombies.

“I just got a manual warning for a video I made seven years ago where Pokémon were adapted into COD Zombies,” NoahJ456 wrote.

“Two more strikes and my channel will be deleted.”

This copyright strike is a dangerous sign for content creators.

It means that anyone who uploads a YouTube video featuring modified Pokémon in any capacity is at risk of having their channel deleted.

YouTube has a strict three-strikes policy, meaning channels that receive three strikes within 90 days will be permanently removed from the video platform.

This isn’t the first time The Pokémon Company has done this.

In January 2024, content creator ToastedShoes’ Palworld x Pokémon mod video earned the channel a copyright strike.

Palworld’s similarity to Pokémon may have contributed to The Pokémon Company’s copyright crackdown.

So if you’re a content creator and you made a video with those cute pocket monsters, you might want to set it to private.

APPLE has released an important security update and has urged all iPhone owners to install it now.

Earlier this week, the tech giant released a new iOS update for iPhones and iPads: iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.

“This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users,” Apple said.

Regarding the iPhone, the updates have been released for the iPhone XS and later.

iPads that could get the update include the “iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation and later, iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 6th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later,” Apple said.

WHY DO I NEED TO UPDATE?

Updating your operating system ensures that your device has access to the latest security measures available.

“Keeping your software up to date is one of the most important things you can do to maintain the security of your Apple product,” Apple says on its website.

Security updates actually patch several vulnerabilities, saving you the need to spend money on antivirus software, experts say.

Conversely, if you don’t update, your iPhone is more susceptible to malware and bugs.

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR IOS

To manually update your iPhone, first go to Settings and then tap General.

Select Software Update and you should see if there is an update available for your device.

If you see an update, tap Update Now or Update Tonight.

If you choose to update tonight, the installation will only start when the device is locked and the battery has sufficient power.

It’s always best to set updates to automatic, so make sure you enable that option at the top as well.

To update your macOS, open the Apple menu > System Preferences > click Software Update.

If Software Update finds a new update, click the button to install it.

The process for updating iPadOS is similar: go to Settings > General > Software Update.

The screen will show which version of iPadOS is currently installed and whether an update is available.
