Cathy Freeman and James Murch split: Australian former sprinter quietly divorces husband after 15 years of marriage
Cathy Freeman and her husband James Murch have announced their sudden separation after 15 years of marriage.
The 51-year-old former Australian sprinter and her 49-year-old husband announced in a joint statement on Friday that they were separating and will continue to care for their 13-year-old daughter Ruby together.
“After 15 years of marriage, we have sadly separated. We will continue to co-parent and this is our top priority,” the statement said, according to the Herald Sun.
‘We continue to enter into a professional and work-oriented collaboration through Estrella Sports Management.
‘Since this is a personal matter, we would appreciate it if you respected our privacy. We will therefore not comment further on this.’
Cathy was married to her first husband, Alexander ‘Sandy’ Bodecker, from 1999 to 2003.
She was in a relationship with actor Joel Edgerton, but they broke up in 2005. In 2009, she married her second husband, Murch.
