CBI scans guest logs of Hazaribag hotels to bust ‘gang’ that leaked papers | India News – Times of India

DANGER BAG: CBI agents are investigating the Leak in NEET-UG paper on Sunday urged hoteliers, banquet hall owners and resort owners in Hazaribag to examine the records of their guests and identify the persons who visited and stayed at the hotel. This follows the discovery of a burnt NEET exam booklet allotted to Hazaribag Oasis Schoolof which director Ehsanul Haq, deputy director Mohammad Imtiyaz Alam and a colleague, journalist Jamaluddin, are in custody. Haq and Alam were fired by the school last week.
The CBI wants to track down the members of the gang responsible for manipulating the exam questions on May 3, two days before the test, and pass them on to Sanjeev Mukhiya, the alleged mastermind behind the leak.
“We were asked to bring the visitor registers, account books and Aadhaar card details of all guests who stayed between May 3 and May 6,” said a hotel owner who was among those who appeared before the CBI officers.
Sources said the discovery of the burnt Oasis-related NEET exam booklet in Patna confirms the findings of the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of the Bihar police that the paper could have been leaked from the Hazaribag school. The EOU had conducted the initial investigation before transferring the case to the CBI.
The sources claimed that the CBI had concluded that Haq, Alam and Jamaluddin, acting on instructions from Mukhiya, had manipulated the box containing the question papers. The CBI suspects that the gang members probably left Hazaribag on May 6, a day after the NEET exam, which led to the scanning of the hotels. As per the regulations, hotels have to retain the details of customers for at least one year. Many other hotel owners and managers were also summoned with such details on Monday.
