Centre offers affordable goods in unrest-hit Manipur: Amit Shah – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Minister of the Interior Amit Shah on Monday announced the Centre’s decision to provide assistance to the common people of unrest-hit Manipur through his Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar points of sale, from Tuesday.
“In line with the commitment of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, MHA is launching an initiative to provide commodities to the people of Manipur at reasonable prices. From 17th September 2024, Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandars will be open for common people,” Shah said in a post on ‘X’.
“In addition to the 21 existing Bhandars, 16 new ones will be opened. Of the 16 new centres, eight will be in the (Imphal) Valley and the remaining eight will be in the hills,” he added.
The Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB) branches are a welfare initiative launched in 2006 by the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide consumer goods to personnel and family members of serving and retired members of the Central Armed Police Force, Central Police Organisations and State Police Forces, at rates lower than those available in the open market.
There are 119 main bhandars as warehouses and more than 1800 subsidiary bhandars as sales outlets.
KPKP offers a wide range and variety of consumer goods to its 35 lakh beneficiaries at lower than market rates. The Central Purchase Committee of KPKB successfully negotiates with the companies to get maximum discounts along with consumer promotional offers on products to save the hard-earned money of KPKB beneficiaries.
