Viewers of The Project were shocked on Wednesday night when Channel Ten’s news program suddenly went off air.

Fans were enjoying the talk show at home when it was suddenly halted after the cast and crew were forced to ‘evacuate the building’.

It wasn’t long before The Project’s X-feed was lighting up like a Christmas tree.

“Is there a power outage in the studio?” asked one surprised viewer.

“Unforeseen circumstances? A little more explanation is deserved. Broken camera? Medical incident?” asked another.

“Have you lost power?” wrote another

‘WTF just happened? Your show just disappeared. Now I’m watching a dog adoption show,’ another commented.

“What happened to the show? It’s a dog kennel,” wrote another.

“It looks like a mess at the moment on The Project,” another fan joked.

In a message shared by the program with X, it was revealed that a fire alarm went off in the studio, causing the show to be abruptly halted.

Channel 10 stopped broadcasting just before 7pm, when an episode of The Dog House aired.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, please enjoy this screening of The Dog House,” the screen read.

Some team members quickly posted a livestream of the evacuation on Instagram, with one joking that Waleed Aly and Sarah Harris were “cut out.”

“The fire alarm has gone off and we need to evacuate,” the crew member said.

“It seems like fire safety is more important than infotainment. That seems crazy to me,” they joked as they walked down the building’s stairs.

‘But remember, these are the rules of evacuation in show business, which means the kids and celebrities go first, and then the regular people.

“So, Waleed and Sarah, they were taken out of here while we were taking the stairs.”

The video shows the crew member leaving the building as fire trucks with flashing lights pull up along the road.

All attendees and employees in the building gathered around their evacuation point as firefighters and rescue teams entered the studio.

Outside, Waleed and Sarah could be seen smiling nervously as they followed the crowd away from the building to a safe place, still holding their microphones.

“This is how we have to do the show,” Waleed joked. “Let me just clarify, I didn’t ask for a night off. This is not part of some grand plan.

“I literally have no idea what’s happening and it’s never happened before in my life.”

Sarah then jumped in on the lighthearted jokes and said, ‘Who was making toast, I want to know. Who was making toast?’

“Apparently we’re airing The Dog House,” the crew member said, to which Sarah laughed and replied, “If the ratings go up, we’ll…”

She went on to say that she couldn’t smell any smoke coming from the building, to which the crew responded, “The guard thinks [the fire alarm] was just broken.’

The livestream continued in a similar manner, with the entire project team apparently being evacuated to a nearby park.

The Project returned to screens at 7:10pm. Once back on TV, Sarah revealed that the entire crew had to ‘run’ from the building when the alarm went off.

“We just went to the bathroom,” the panel joked first.

Waleed Aly explains: “There was a fire alarm in our building and we had to leave.”

“We shouldn’t have just left,” Sarah protested.

“Who made our fire plan? We met a kilometer away,” Waleed added.

The network reported that the fire alarm was triggered by the reverse cycle air conditioning, which caused dust to “fly” through the air.

“Everyone said, ‘We’ve got to get out of here.’ I made a good joke but they said, ‘No, go for it,'” said presenter Sam Taunton, who later joked: “The Project, delivered differently, sometimes not at all.”

Even celebrity guests joked about the chaos, such as Jamie Oliver, who appeared on screen just a few minutes after the series was revived.

“First of all, can I apologize for the fire alarm? I sent someone to do some capanes and look what happened,” the celebrity chef joked.

A Fire and Rescue Victoria spokesperson said they responded to a false alarm after a smoke alarm malfunctioned, the report said. NewsWire.

Network Ten is filming The Project at its Melbourne studios in South Yarra, with panellists Sarah, Waleed, Sam and Nick Cody among the evacuees.
