Check your new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra for any issues with peeling paint
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra has only been on sale for a few days, but already one customer is unhappy with his watch. The reason for this is that the paint on the back of the device started peeling off rather quickly.
This peel report was made on Reddit (through Android Authority). There appears to be minor damage to the surface coating on the underside of the watch, even though the watch has not been used for any form of exercise or gym training.
At least one other Reddit user has reported the same issue, and it appears to be limited to the gray version of the smartwatch. It appears the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s other case colors, white and silver, may not have the same issue.
It’s worth noting that there have been very few reports of this issue at this time – and Samsung support has replaced the affected watch. However, it might be worth double-checking your own Galaxy Watch Ultra if you’ve already purchased one.
Keep an eye on
We haven’t noticed any issues with paint chipping or peeling on our own Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. In fact, we called it “probably Samsung’s best watch yet,” and we’ll continue to monitor any wear and tear on our model.
Clearly, if the device is to become a permanent addition to our best smartwatches list, it will need to be able to maintain its finish for much longer than a few days. This isn’t an issue we’ve seen with competing devices like the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Samsung is clearly proud of its new premium smartwatch, and has posted two images of the wearable’s internals. You can see most of the circuitry, along with explanations of what each part does.
There’s no official word from Samsung on the issue yet, but if there are any developments, we’ll let you know. The Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch FE also launched recently with no reported issues.
