Chelsea ‘submit new offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in player-plus-cash deal with Marcos Alonso’
Chelsea ‘submit new offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Marcos Alonso offered to Barcelona as part of player-plus-cash deal’… and the ex-Arsenal star’s broken jaw suffered in home burglary will NOT be a problem
- Barcelona received a new offer from Chelsea for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
- A deal for the Gabon international would see Marcos Alonse move the other way
- The former Arsenal star suffered a broken jaw in a violent burglary on Monday
Chelsea have made a new offer for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with just over 24 hours left in the summer transfer window.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have made another offer for the former Arsenal striker, and Chelsea’s need for a new striker was underlined when they lost 2-1 to Southampton on Tuesday night.
The proposed player-plus-cash deal for the Gabon international will see Marcos Alonso – long associated with Xavi’s Barca this summer – move in the opposite direction.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Chelsea could allow Marcos Alonso to move to Barcelona
Chelsea made a £15million bid to take over Aubameyang earlier this month, but it appears they have reached an agreement with the Catalan giants, Fabrizio Romano said.
He announced the news on Twitter, writing: ‘Chelsea’s new official offer for Pierre Aubameyang has currently been received by Barcelona.
“As stated in the afternoon, Marcos Alonso is once again part of the deal.
The arrival of Robert Lewandowski this summer has reduced Aubameyang’s playing time
“Negotiations are now underway on add-ons structure – Auba’s broken jaw, no problem.”
It was previously thought that Aubameyang’s move to the Blues had failed after the two sides reportedly failed to reach an agreement, but Chelsea’s new offer appears to be more to the liking of Barca.
Barcelona are still eager to bring more faces to the Camp Nou, but must first bring in money before Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is still on their perhaps ambitious wish list.
Thomas Tuchel’s need for a striker was highlighted on Tuesday in a 2-1 defeat at Southampton
Aubameyang, who only arrived at the club in January, has already netted 13 goals and an assist in 24 games, but is now one of many players deemed redundant.
The 33-year-old took to social media after he was allegedly attacked by a group of four men and threatened with firearms, saying: ‘Hey guys, thank you so much for all the messages. On Sunday night, some violent cowards broke into our house and threatened my family and my children, just to steal some things.
“They injured my jaw but I will recover in no time and thank goodness no one else was physically hurt.
“The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is difficult to understand and describe, but as a family we will overcome this and be stronger than ever.
‘Thank you for all the support, it really means a lot to us.’
Aubameyang’s departure would certainly help the Blaugrana look for fresher faces, especially if it facilitates another target’s arrival in Alonso.
In six years at Stamford Bridge, the Spanish international defender has won six major honours, including the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup. He scored 29 times and provided a further 23 assists in 212 games.
