‘Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef’: How to Live Stream the Netflix Event
You may know Netflix as a place to go for romantic series and star-studded action movies, but how about a hot dog eating contest between two fanatic food giants?
If watching rivals dine together seems like the perfect way to spend your subscription, Netflix will live stream Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef on Labor Day. The event will feature Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi, who have 16 and six wins, respectively, at the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July hot dog contest. The last time they faced off, in 2009, Chestnut won. The Netflix competition adds a new chapter to “a rivalry that has simmered for 15 years,” the streamer says.
Actor Rob Riggle and former WWE wrestler Nikki Garcia will host the high-stakes eat-off, and there will be two undercard matches before Chestnut and Kobayashi get their scar on. Here’s more on when you can watch the hot dog battle.
Release time for ‘Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef’
You can watch the live event on Netflix starting Monday, September 2 at 12pm PT (3pm ET).
Expect two culinary extravaganzas leading up to Chestnut and Kobayashi’s duel. Competitive eater and YouTuber Matt Stonie will take on Olympians Ryan Murphy, Max Irving and Ryan Lochte in a chicken wing eat-a-thon. Pro-eater Leah Shutkever will attempt to set a fruit-eating record by devouring the most watermelon ever in three minutes.
No one has beaten Chestnut’s record of 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes at the Nathan’s contest. The exceptional eater was particularly excluded from this year’s competition after striking a deal with Impossible Foods, which sells plant-based sausages.
Netflix’s plans include $7-per-month Netflix Standard with ads, $15.50-per-month Netflix Standard, and $23-per-month Netflix Premium. The second two options are ad-free, but Premium increases the number of simultaneous streams from two to four and offers 4K streaming, among other perks.
If you’re watching a live event on Netflix, like Chestnut vs. Kobayashi, you can start from the beginning, pause, and rewind in addition to watching live. And Netflix lets you stream later if you miss the real-time action.
