‘Chocolate expert’ shares Toblerone trick for a mess-free experience
SOMETIMES there’s nothing better than a piece – or a few pieces – of Toblerone.
First created in 1908 in the Swiss city of Bern, the cult-favorite chocolate bars are known for their iconic triangular peaks and delicious crunch.
For years, there has been debate about how to break the triangular candy. Some say you have to pull, others think it takes too much effort.
Luckily, there is a mother who calls herself a “chocolate expert” who ends the debate once and for all.
Smart parent Amy (@goes to TikTokme_plus_3_nuggets), showed how she and her family enjoy the delicious sweet treat.
According to the chocolate fan, connoisseurs should not pull on the mini triangle to break it off. Amy advises to pinch the two together.
The impact means the piece will fall apart much “easier,” the mother explained in her video.
Amy admitted she was also initially stunned when she posted a game-changing trick.
“I was surprised when I found out.”
Since the video was posted on the platform, it has become incredibly popular on the internet, with Amy having been viewed over 415,000 times in just three days.
Dozens of chocolate lovers responded en masse and shared their thoughts, many thanking Amy for the discovery.
Someone laughed: “We bought the big version for my grandpa in the 90s, and he had to use a hammer for it.”
Someone else joined in the conversation: “What an awesome hack! I’m definitely going to try this.”
A third couldn’t wait to try it either, writing: ”Nooooooooo 💀💀💀 They are REALLY the hardest things to take apart!!! Thank you!!!”
“I’ve been doing this for years,” wrote a fourth.
“I thought everyone knew this?” another TikTok user wondered.
How to save money on chocolate
We all love a piece of chocolate every now and then, but you don’t have to pay top dollar for your favorite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker explains how to cut costs…
Go for your own brand – If you don’t have a particular taste preference and just want to satisfy your chocolate cravings, it’s best to opt for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop – If you see your favorite variety in the supermarket, see if it is cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk allow you to compare prices of products from all the major retail chains, so you can see if you’re getting the best deal.
Please note yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on products to indicate that they are discounted.
They usually do this when the product is close to its expiration date or if the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – Usually, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100 grams the larger the bar.
So if you’re hungry and you’re going to buy a large amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go for a larger portion.
Iconic taste in stores
Chocolate lovers were delighted to see a rare Toblerone flavour available again at Tesco, The Sun previously reported.
The soft, golden caramel variant offers the iconic crunchy nougat of a classic Toblerone with the taste of caramelized white chocolate.
The news was revealed in a report in NewfoodsUK Facebook group including a snapshot of the sweet treat.
The Golden Caramel flavour was released earlier in 2022 as a limited edition, retailing at £6.26 for 360g.
Customers can now buy it at Asda for £4.00 – and at rival Tesco you can buy all Toblerones for £6.
