Circus performer taken to hospital after falling from rope in front of shocked audience

A female circus performer from a Colombian circus company has been rushed to hospital after falling from a 16-foot-high rope in front of a shocked audience in England.

The unidentified performer was seen on video sitting on the back of a chair mounted on a pole, held by two men standing on a tightrope during a Gravity Circus performance at Glye Gap Field in East Sussex on Monday.

As she slowly lowered herself into the chair, balancing her feet on the arms of the chair, the pole began to wobble.

As she fell into the chair, her foot appeared to slip and she fell off the plane along with the chair.

Halfway down the fall, the chair struck something that looked like a wire, sending her flying against her body and into a free somersault until she landed on her knees on the ground.

The force of the impact caused her upper body to spin until she eventually landed in a fetal position on the metal floor, appearing unconscious.
