CISF, BSF implement 10% reservation for ex-Agniveers in police posts | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The leaders of CISF And BSF announced on Thursday that the Central Armed Forces have made all preparations to deploy 10% of all posts of the agent for ex-Agniveers. The reservation for ex-Agniveers in the Central Security Forces was announced by the Union Ministry of Internal Affairs last year.
CISF Director General Nina Singh and BSF Director General Nitin Agrawal on Thursday detailed the recruitment plans for ex-Agniveers.
According to Singh, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will reserve 10% of posts for ex-Agniveers in all future appointments of officers.
“The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has taken the important decision regarding recruitment of ex-Agniveers. Accordingly, the CISF is also preparing the process of recruitment of ex-Agniveers,” Singh said.
She further explained the details, noting that physical testing will include exemptions for former Activate and there will be age relaxations.
In the first year, the age reduction is five years, in subsequent years it is three years.
“Ex-Agniveer will be able to take advantage of this and the CISF will ensure that. This will also be beneficial for the CISF as the force will get trained and disciplined personnel,” Singh told DD News.Deployed along the border: BSF
“They have four years of experience. They are fully disciplined and trained personnel. This is very good for the BSF as we are getting trained soldiers. After a short training, they are deployed along the border,” BSF Director General Agrawal said.
Agrawal stressed that all security forces would benefit from recruiting ex-Agniveers.
“We wait until they are deployed, after they have completed conversion training. Then they are deployed. Ten percent of the total number of vacancies is reserved for them,” he said.
He also confirmed that age relaxations would be introduced, with the first group getting five years of relaxation and subsequent groups getting three years.
“There will be age relaxation for them too. The first group will get five years of age relaxation and the subsequent groups will get three years of age relaxation,” Agrawal told DD News.Noise in Parliament
The announcement comes days after heated arguments broke out in Parliament between the opposition and the Centre over the Agnipath recruitment programme, which aims to recruit short-term personnel from the army, navy and air force.
While the opposition is demanding that the plan be scrapped, even the BJP’s allies such as the LJP and the JD(U) have demanded a review of the plan.
The Agnipath programme, which was rolled out in June 2022, seeks to reduce the age profile of the armed forces. It recruits young people aged 17.5 to 21 for four years, retaining 25% of them for a further 15 years.
Opposition parties, including the Congress, have criticised the plan and questioned the future of the 75% of Agniveers who were not retained after their four-year term.
Several government agencies and departments have announced plans to recruit former Agniveers, who are seen as experienced and disciplined personnel.
The systematic planning to integrate ex-Agniveers into the CISF and BSF is part of a broader strategy to leverage their skills and training for national security roles, taking into account both operational needs and career continuity of these individuals.
