Cities with Scotland’s ‘sexiest and least sexy’ accents revealed
THE TOWNS in Scotland with the “least attractive” and “most attractive” accents have been revealed.
Experts at Netflix surveyed 2,000 people about their opinions on different accents in the UK.
It comes as Love is Blind recently aired the first five episodes of the new British series, according to the Daily report.
That’s why the streaming giant went in search of the ‘sexiest’ accents across the country.
The survey was conducted by Perspectus Global and sent to the public last month.
And it turns out that most viewers found the Glasgow accent to be the least sexy Scottish accent.
About 47 percent of respondents said they found it “unattractive.”
It was ranked fourth in the ranking of least sexy accents in the UK and Ireland.
The accent was only slightly better than Georgie’s accent, which was rated third worst.
Viewers also didn’t like the Essex accent.
But the worst accent in the entire country was found in Birmingham.
On the other end of the spectrum, the research found that people actually got angry at the Edinburgh accent.
It turned out to be the sexiest accent in Scotland, with around 37 percent of people calling it ‘attractive’.
The questionnaire revealed that viewers liked both the soft ‘r’ sounds and the strong ‘ch’ sounds.
Although it is Scotland’s most attractive city, it only ranks fourth overall.
Cockney and Welsh accents came in second and third place respectively.
But it was the Dublin accent in particular that was dubbed the sexiest in the UK.
Some 58 percent of respondents said the Irish accent was high on their list, with many saying they were attracted to the stressed ‘r’ sounds.
ACCENT REVELATION
The survey also found that nearly two-thirds of respondents were attracted to someone solely because of their accent.
In total, 59 percent of people have become angry after hearing a person’s voice, regardless of what that person looks like.
And 81 percent of people said they would stay with someone with an “annoying” accent even if they were physically attracted to that person.
Looking back at the premise of Love is Blind, 72 percent of people say they think they can fall in love with someone just by listening to their voice and not knowing what they look like.
Yet 87 percent of people admit to forming an image of what they think someone looks like after talking to them on the phone or texting them.
The survey also found that 49 percent of people find regional accents attractive, while eight percent do not.
