CM Sukhu reacts to HC fixing Himachal Bhawan in Delhi; BJP blames government's 'financial mismanagement'
NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday addressed reports of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh‘s command to stitch Himachal Bhawan in Delhi, indicating that he is yet to review the order.
This followed the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s ruling on Monday to attach the Himachal Bhavan to the Mandi House in Delhi after the Congress-led government failed to pay outstanding electricity bills.
“I haven’t read the Supreme Court order yet, but the upfront premium is rooted in a 2006 policy. For which I was the chief architect. When we set energy policy, we set a minimum price per megawatt, which companies bid on. This bounty was decided through arbitration and our government challenged this arbitration order in the Supreme Court. Therefore, we had to deposit Rs 64 crore in arbitration. I have gathered information about this and will study the order carefully. the Himachal Chief Minister told reporters.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Sukhu government and Congress, linking the court’s ruling to their alleged poor financial administration and inattention to pending cases. electricity payments.
Former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader Jairam Thakur said: “We are facing a period of financial crisis. The Supreme Court decision dated January 13, 2023 directed the state to pay Rs 64 crore towards the premium for the Seli hydroelectric power station. Yet the current government does not do that. I don’t seem to be taking this seriously.”

Expressing concern over mounting legal challenges and alleged mismanagement by the government, Thakur said: “The situation is dire. This attachment order against Himachal Bhawan is unprecedented in our state. financial mismanagement continues, we may face a scenario in which even our State Secretariat is at risk. Himachal Pradesh has been going through a prolonged financial crisis and now there is a fear that our assets could be auctioned.”
