A teenager is accused of murder after a basketball star of the university was shot in the head at a polar party in Texas.
Jamarion Brown, known as ‘Jojo’, played as a guard for the Henderson State Reddies.
But the 23-year-old was shot on Friday at the party in Camp County. The police were called and they found the basketball star in a serious state.
He was rushed to the hospital, but died later. As reported by KLTVOnterrian Jamour Newton, 17, was arrested on Wednesday and accused of murder.
Two other people were also injured in the incident and Newton is said to remain in prison without a band that has been established.
Henderson State Athletics brought a tribute to Brown with a heartbreaking tribute earlier this week.
“Jo” only spent one season in Arkadelphia, but his impact on our campus was profound, “they said.
‘His warmth and hospitable personality made him one of the most recognizable and respected students in Henderson State among not only his colleagues, but also by faculty and staff.
‘His smile enlightened a room and his dedication and care for his friends shone in all his daily interactions. Between the lines, Jo was a fiery competitor and a beloved teammate. ‘
The school greeted brown’s ‘toughness, work ethics, selflessness and winning attitude,’ added: “Jo embodied the Reddie Spirit and lived up to both himself and Henderson State in the way he played the game every time he took the floor.
Basketball coach Jimmy Elgas said: “No words can express our grief for Jamarion’s family, friends and teammates … His loss leaves a huge emptiness on our campus, but Jo will be remembered and honored in our hearts forever.”
