Congress claims BJP-RSS ‘destroying education system’; questions NRA inaction | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP RSS on Sunday of an attempt to “the education system“and wondered why the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) has not taken any exams in the past four years.
Kharge’s remarks were a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks in Mumbai on Saturday. He said that eight crore new jobs have been created in the last three to four years, “silencing” those spreading false stories about unemployment.
In a post on X, Kharge reminded Modi of his announcement about the NRA in August 2020, in which he had said, “The NRA will prove to be a boon for millions of youth. The Common Eligibility Test will eliminate the need for multiple exams and save valuable time and resources. This will also give a big boost to transparency.”
Kharge then raised three questions. He wanted to know why the NRA has not conducted examinations for the last four years, why only Rs 58 crore has been spent out of the allocated Rs 1,517.57 crore and whether the NRA has been deliberately kept inactive to deprive the SC, ST, OBC and EWS youth of their reservation rights.

Kharge further alleged that the NTA was being used for “fraud, paper leaks and scams” while the NRA was not even allowed to conduct exams. The Congress president also mentioned that the party had earlier raised the issue of the NRA but the Modi government had remained silent on it.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also quoted a media report which claimed that the NRA had not been able to conduct a single exam despite spending Rs 58 crore in the last four years. He added that the central government had announced the ‘one nation, one exam’ initiative for the youth in 2020 and handed over the responsibility to the NRA with much fanfare, but the agency has failed to deliver, just like the NTA.
The NTA is facing allegations of irregularities in national competitive exams. NEET-UG examination, conducted by NTA, has been marred by allegations of malpractices, including alleged paper leaks and questionable assessment methods, leading to widespread anger and demonstrations across the country. As a result, certain students were ordered to retake the NEET-UG examination.
