Congress files complaint with EC over BJP’s ‘fake Jharkhandis’, ‘Bengali uncle’ advertisement | India News – Times of India
“It is stated that under the Model Code of Conduct, no political party, leader or candidate can engage in election campaigns based on false information about opposing political parties/candidates. Furthermore, no political party, leader or candidate can engage in election campaigns. in activities that would constitute corrupt practices under the Representation of the People Act, 1951,” the complaint said.
Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh shared a copy of the complaint and said, “A complaint has just been filed with the Election Commission regarding a very disgusting advertisement related to Jharkhand officially released by the BJP. Not only is it blatantly and blatantly contrary to the ECI model code. of behavior, it is also an act of serious crime. We hope that the ECI will act immediately and pursue this case to its logical conclusion.
The BJP’s advertisement is full of baseless claims and false information, aimed at misleading voters and discouraging them from supporting opposition parties, while unfairly boosting the BJP’s chances in Jharkhand. The advertisement violates both the Model Code of Conduct and the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the grand old party said.
