'Congress lost, party did not lose in Haryana elections': Jairam Ramesh says 'system has been abused'
NEW DELHI: Victory in the Haryana Assembly Elections has been ripped away from the Congress party and the system has been abused, MP Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday, adding that the party had to lose, but that it “didn’t lose”.
As the BJP appears to be retaining Haryana, Congress once again blamed the system and the EVM machine for their loss in the elections.
At the press conference, Jairam Ramesh said, “Whatever analysis we have to do on Haryana, we will definitely do it. But first and foremost, we have to send the complaints coming from different districts to the Election Commission. , what we did not do, where we went wrong, there will certainly be an analysis of this. A committee will also be formed, this is the practice in the Congress party and the analysis will be done after talking to everyone. This is not the time for analysis. The most important thing right now is that victory has been taken away from us, the system has been abused and everyone felt that the ground reality was in favor of change, except the result that has come today does not reflect that. There will certainly be an analysis.”

“As far as results are concerned, the Haryana result is our first priority to collect all the complaints that have come from candidates from the three districts. There will be more complaints today and we hope to take this to the Election Commission tomorrow evening or the day after tomorrow. That is of course our immediate priority. At the same time, of course, we will look inward as to why the outcome happened the way it did. It was everyone’s expectation that the Congress would win comfortably. The Congress has not lost in Haryana and you have the latter haven’t heard of Haryana yet,” the MP said when asked about the Haryana polls.
In the Haryana elections, the trends showed that the ruling BJP has crossed the majority mark in the Haryana Assembly, while the Congress won 33 seats and was leading at 4 to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders also discussed the Elections in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed their dissatisfaction with their party’s performance. Jairam Ramesh recalled that the Congress party came first during the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, we hope that a government of the NC and INC alliance will be formed soon, a joint program will be prepared and we will make every effort to meet the expectations of the people… ” he said.
He further added, “In the chapter of Jammu and Kashmir, there will of course be a coalition government. And as I said till yesterday, several attempts were made to ensure that the majority would not come to the Congress-NC coalition but to the Congress-NC coalition. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a very clear mandate to this coalition government.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera, who was also present at the press conference, said a ‘historic’ election was held in Jammu and Kashmir after the gap of ten years.
“I congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir who participated in these elections with great enthusiasm and gave a befitting reply to those who left no stone unturned in trampling on the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir. the fact that it was a Union Territory was in itself unexpected,” he said.
