Congress called Modi government‘s decision to grant more powers to LG of J&K as “Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas“as it accuses the ruling BJP of continuing to betray the state that has now become UT, where the Supreme Court has ordered that the state Assembly elections must be held by September 30. AICC Head Mallikarjun Kharge said the changes being implemented have two meanings: either the Modi government wants to delay the restoration of J&K statehood, or “even if statehood is restored, it wants to keep the newly elected state government dependent on the LG, by curtailing his executive powers”.
