Congress slams Rajasthan government’s order to paint university walls orange, calling it ‘politicisation’ – Times of India
According to the Commissioner, this initiative aims to promote a positive climate within educational institutions.
The Kayakalp programme, originally launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, promotes cleanliness, hygiene and infection control, especially in public healthcare facilities. The adjustment of the program in colleges in Rajasthan is aimed at improving the educational atmosphere and instilling a sense of optimism among students.
The directive was issued last month by Joint Director (Planning), College Education, Vijendra Kumar Sharma. In the first phase, twenty colleges, with two colleges from each division, have been selected for the project. The order specifies that the buildings are to be painted in the shades of “Asian Paints White Gold 8292 and Asian Paints Orange Crown 7974”.
“The colleges are crucial for higher education. The environment should be inviting and uplifting so that students feel positive as soon as they enter,” the guideline states, adding that this initiative is intended to send a message of rejuvenation, cleanliness and a supportive educational atmosphere.
The move has drawn criticism from the opposition Congress, with PCC secretary Swarnim Chaturvedi accusing the BJP-led government of politicizing educational institutions.
Chaturvedi said, “The BJP government has failed to deliver on its promises to the people. Since they have little to offer in terms of performance, they resort to such actions to divert attention.”
