Conor McGregor has defended Anthony Joshua’s post-fight speech after the Briton went on a bizarre ramble following his loss to Oleksandr Usyk.
Joshua stormed out of the ring after his split decision defeat to Usyk in a match he was determined to win after knocking out two belts and confronting his opponent.
The 32-year-old then grabbed the mic before giving a speech that was poorly received by many, in which he spoke about his journey and the ongoing war against Ukraine after telling Usyk “I’m talking about” when the champion tried his Ukrainian flag back from Joshua.
However, McGregor has defended Joshua, claiming it was “a great speech” and “if she… [Usyk’s team] they wanted the microphone they could have tried to get it back.”

“You’re all being ridiculous about this,” McGregor wrote on his Twitter account.
“That’s a great speech there. Honestly for him, he’s made it through, but he’s still there to keep that cog spinning.
“If they wanted the microphone, they could have tried to get it back. Then he gives me a yell. Great fight, thank you! #champion champion’.

Usyk seemed visibly surprised at Joshua’s actions and finally got his moment on the mic after Joshua left the ring for the second time.
The two had first embraced after the final bell and shared a moment in the center of the ring draped in a Ukrainian flag.
But after the result was announced, Joshua became angry and appeared to clash with a member of Usyk’s team before storming out of the ring.
