Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly called for Manchester United captain Harry Maguire to be dropped last season when the dressing room turned toxic and results plummeted.
Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford did not go to plan and tensions mounted last season as the club stumbled to sixth place.
And details are known about the Portuguese striker’s demands, from team selection to formation changes.

Ralf Rangnick told the players who confronted him that their conversation was ‘inappropriate’
According to the athleticRonaldo was part of a group of players who approached Rangnick in Carrington in February of this year.
Among them were Raphael Varane and Paul Pogba, but Ronaldo’s message came across clearly when he said: ‘Maguire is part of the problem’.
Some players from the group then apologized to the interim boss, who left the club in the summer.
Rangnick is said to have told players, including Ronaldo, that it was “inappropriate” to talk about Maguire in the absence of the player himself.
Ronaldo also had a look at the team’s formation and, during the impromptu meeting, told the manager in no uncertain terms how he wanted them to line up.

The 37-year-old wanted to play alongside Edinson Cavani up front, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
The report helps shed light on the summer of discontent at Old Trafford – which has been largely overshadowed by Ronaldo pushing to leave.
It now seems inevitable that the attacker will stay with the club given the lack of interested parties who can pay his wages.
United’s best performance of the season so far came against Liverpool in their 2-1 home win when Ronaldo was dropped on the bench and they backed it up by beating Southampton away from home, again with Ronaldo between the substitutes.
Ronaldo’s body language has been questioned, especially in Brentford’s defeat
Ironically, Maguire, who was dropped by Ronaldo, was also kicked out of the team during their recent fortune revival.
Erik ten Hag tries to make his mark on United’s squad, but risks undermining Ronaldo’s influence in the squad if he stays on the bench.
Rio Ferdinand has recently expressed his own opinion Atmosphere with Five podcast: ‘Whether he stays or not, none of us know. But knowing Cristiano [Ronaldo]I’m sure he will absolutely smoke now.
‘Forget who starts before him, [that] it won’t start. You can’t do what he’s done in his career during this amazing amount of time at the levels he’s playing by being someone who accepts not starting and being a sub for a team that’s not in the Champions League.
“Whatever someone says about running, pressing etc, he will sit there and go. “I scored 24 goals last season. The hardest thing in football is putting the ball in the back of the net and I did that 24 times last year.”‘
