Cristiano Ronaldothe proposed departure of Al-Nassr Is uncertain after the club had issued a challenging statement.

Ronaldo’s contract with the Saudi Arabian club will end on 30 June.

The 39-year-old was almost a new deal agreed worth £ 167 million a year.

However, he stated on social media on Monday that ‘this chapter is over’ while he hinted on a departure from Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo has since been linked to various teams, including his former club sporting, while there have been suggestions that he was going to the MLSBrazil, Turkey or another Saudi Arab club.

Al-Nassr, however, is determined to ensure that the Portugal International does not leave.

In a press conference, Al-Nassr sports director Fernando Hierro spoke his conviction that Ronaldo will stay in the club.

Hierro said: ‘I must be positive. I don’t think Ronaldo will leave Al-Nassr.

‘In any case, we work hard on all aspects.

‘Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nassr runs until the end of June 30.

‘We will work to extend his contract so that he can continue with us, and there are many clubs that are interested in signing him.

‘He is a huge phenomenon in the history of football and has helped to grow the competition.

“We have contact to extend his contract and hope he will continue with us.”

FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested last week that Ronaldo could perform in the newly revamped club World Cup.

“Ronaldo can also play for one of the teams at the club’s World Cup,” said Infantino. “There are discussions.”

“There are discussions with some clubs, so if a club watches and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the club World Cup … who knows, who knows.”

During his time at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo scored 93 goals in 105 performances.

He won the Arab Champions Cup in 2023, but was frustrated because he did not win the Saudi Pro League or the King’s Cup.
