Croydon House Fire: One person dead

One person died after a house fire SydneyInner west, with another not yet responsible.

Emergency services were called early this morning to a house in Croydon after Flames had already flooded a lot of the building.

Six fire trucks and 22 fire and salvation NSW Crews took care of the fire, which tore through the red brick house.

Firefighters managed to control the fire, but discovered one person dead in the house. The victim has not yet been formally identified. A second person is still not justified.

During attempts to control the fire, parts of the roof collapsed, hide hotspots and make it more difficult to make the search effort more difficult.

FrNSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry said that crews forced access through the back of the building.

Due to the intense heat and falling debris, firefighters were forced to withdraw temporarily until it was safe to come in again.

The police of the local Burwood Area Command have since set up a crime scene and started an investigation into the cause of the fire.

A report will be drawn up for the coroner.

Traffic drains were early on Wednesday morning, but the area has since been reopened.
