After releasing her memoirs, Say Only Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself, Crystal Hefner teams up with PETA to stand up against the 'cruelty' of cashmere.

In a promotional video shared exclusively with We weekly on Tuesday, January 30, Hefner kicks off her campaign with PETA (The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) donning a cashmere top. As she talks about the controversial ways of processing the wool, the blood slowly starts to seep through her sweater.

“Cashmere doesn't lose luxury, it oozes blood,” she claims in the new campaign, which then cuts back on workers shearing coats from goats. “Cashmere comes from goats that scream in fear and bleed from open wounds as workers pin them down and pull out their hair. The production of one cashmere sweater requires material from four goats.”

As blood continues to drip from her clothes, Hefner claims that cashmere is “obtained through cruelty” and that if people continue to wear it, “there will be blood on the skin.” [their] hands.”

“Cruelty is not pleasant. Don't wear cashmere anymore,” reads a message at the end of the campaign video.

Hefner has worked with PETA before. In October 2021, they teamed up to launch a range of cruelty-free products alongside vegan beauty subscription service Kinder Beauty. All proceeds went to the animal organization.

Along with her PETA partnership, Crystal has made headlines in recent weeks with the release of her tell-all memoir, which chronicles her decade-long career as a Playboy Bunny.

“Life in the country house was not the fairytale I had ever hoped for,” she wrote in her book, which was released on Tuesday, January 23. story. But that wasn't the case, and everyone who lived there knew it.”

In the memoir, Crystal shared some shocking revelations about the Playboy Mansion, including how the house itself made her sick.

The book also dealt with Crystal's relationship with Hugh Hefner. The pair married in 2012 and remained together until his death in September 2017.

“I was never in love with Hef, but I loved this old man the way you're supposed to love your parents,” Crystal said. “The way you're supposed to love someone who is nearing the end of a long and complicated life.”
