A cyber crime gang claims that he has violated Freedman Healthcare, a consulting firm based in the US that helps states and healthcare organizations to process data and reportedly stole thousands of sensitive files.
A threat actor called World Leaks has added Freedman Healthcare to her Data Lek website. The group is a newcomer to the cyber crime space, in which some say it is a rebrand of Hunters International, while others report that it is one spin-off From the notorious organization.
In any case, the group has added the consultancy to its site, but has not yet uploaded files, probably trying to put it under pressure to pay the ransom question.
Extortion as a service
The attackers claim that they have stolen 42,204 files, which is more than 50 GB, but the nature of the stolen files is not known, nor is the requested amount of money.
The company deals with personal health information from millions of Americans, including sensitive data that has been processed in Medicaid and commercial insurance claims, state care and human service providers, social determinants of health data sets and initiatives for healthcare staff.
Freedman Healthcare has not yet tackled these claims, so we don’t even know if they are legitimate or not.
Hunters International, however, has a relatively good track record, with remarkable victims from the past, including Toyota Brazil, Nanolumens, integrated control and Frederick Wildman and Sons.
World leaks apparently works on a “extortion-as-a-service” model, launched at the beginning of 2025.
